Re: Dinner Party Crimes
I'm not sure I have ever cooked for what you would describe as a dinner party. (J has :D ) We have a handful of friends coming at the weekend and it will be roast pork, Jersey royals and a variety of salads, followed by cheese. Nobody is really bothered about a pudding so it won't be eaten and if I ...

Re: What are you eating today?
I marinated a couple of chicken portions in a mixture of harissa, yoghurt and preserved lemon then roasted them.
They were shredded and served with sauté potatoes and salad.
Really tasty.

Re: What are you eating today?
I cooked this tonight
https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/chi ... rd-lentils
I used a preserved lemon rather than fresh because that's what I had.
It looked like a dog's dinner but tasted really good.
I served it with a mixed salad but I think a vegetable would have been a better match.

Re: What are you eating today?
Just had a fabulous seafood rice with saffron, fennel seeds, celery, onion, squid, mussels and prawns.
Cooked by J.
I usually do that sort of dish but I'm happy to be sommelier and plongeur.

Re: What are you eating today?
We are both out this evening, separately, and will not be eating properly. J is going to rugby so he will probably have a pie or something at the ground. I am going to a friend's house, she's invited a few women round for drinks. She is a great hostess but she's not fussed on cooking so it will like...

Re: "Danish Peasant Girl with a Veil"
Who remembers Rice Cremola?
It was a quick pudding if mum was busy, always served with a blob of jam in the middle.
If it was too hot we were allowed to pour some milk on it.

Re: What are you eating today?
I have made a portion of Hairy Bikers Ragu, it's our favourite.
Half has gone into the freezer and the other half has been turned into a lasagne.
We will have that tonight, with salad.
I will be back from yoga about 1920 so let's hope J remembers he's on dinner duty tonight.

Re: What are you eating today?
It sounds fab Sue, but I'd have to be in the mood to do something like that.
We had hake fillet with saute potatoes and pea & mint purée.
The purée also contains coriander leaf and a touch of white wine vinegar.

My glamorous aunt did that too
Back in the 60s she had jet black hair with a blonde fringe, and she managed a record shop.
She was cool.

Re: Beverages
I haven't had a snowball for years.
We were allowed one on NYE when we were about 12.
Dad made it with lemonade and always a cherry. It was probably 95% lemonade
I think bitter lemon would be more to my taste now.
