Focaccia 8n the news

Focaccia in the News. Did anybody else see this award winning bread on the local bbc news tonight? https://www.derbyshiretimes.co.uk/business/4-eyes-bakery-scoops-trophy-in-britains-best-loaf-competition-4614006 Apparently, he accidentally added too much water to his bread dough, so then tried to ma...

Re: Beverages

It’s years since I last tasted it, but Morrisons own brand tonic used to be very acceptable.

Re: Beverages

I accidentally (blame the barman) had the London Essence light tonic (yellow label) yesterday. It was horrible, sweet and manufactured.

But the alternative, on tap tonic, was tasteless.

I usually have ordinary yellow fever-tree. I wonder if the yellow light label of London Essence is coincidental?

Re: Where have you eaten out today?

I had a basic egg mayo sandwich from Starbucks. It was one of the best I’ve ever had  lick lips .
It had a tiny touch of mustard either in, or part of the mayo. I’ll have to have another to check ;) :D .
Local Starbucks is opening in about a week or so, I may be an early customer.

Re: Garlic powder

I’m getting to be a big fan (lazy! :? :D ;) ) of M&S frozen garlic. And ginger. And chilli. I do use fresh, but I’m not sure I can really taste the difference.

Re: Where have you eaten out today?

We had Betty’s afternoon tea at HC, tea/dinner afterwards was a very subdued affair. The diet will have to restart tomorrow.

Re: Gardening Resources & Tips

Does anyone else still fold daffodil leaves over, and use one leaf to loosely tie them together?

I’m not sure, but it’s easier than separating the seeds out ;) :D .

More roughage maybe ;) :D ?

Re: Gardening Resources & Tips

I used to have a lovely recipe for rhubarb and ginger jam. If my daughter brings more rhubarb from her allotment, I may have to search for it again. I’d love to grow rhubarb in the garden.

Re: Mint stalks

Interesting, thank you. I had similar thoughts tonight with fresh green thyme stalks (chopped, not blended).
(And I’m that person who uses the whole cardamom pod, not just the seeds…..value for money…..I don’t live in Yorkshire for nothing ;) :P :D ).
All very fascinating.

Mint stalks

I’ve made this tonight, not for the first time, but as I was carefully stripping mint leaves from the stalks, ready to be blended with yoghurt and lemon juice, I wondered about the (green) stalks. Could I have blended them too? What about the flavour? Would I notice any difference? If I added the st...

Re: "Danish Peasant Girl with a Veil"

Moira, that reminds me, I was walking behind a young man the other day, dressed all in black, boots, jeans, hoodie (up), very scary, but in his left hand….a tube of Smarties. It made me laugh .They’re all little boys at heart.

I also have hand/wrist/strainer problem, and often use one of these to fish things out with. Some of the other JJ triangular colander/strainers with a handle look like they could be used in a similar way too. I https://www.marksandspencer.com/scoop-colander/p/hbp60525587?colour=GREY&extid=ps_ps-...

It’s just chicken breast strips coated in humous and roasted till slightly charred…possibly topped with sesame seeds.

(Shhh, apparently it’s a BLW recipe, for little ones😮😳😀)

Baked houmous chicken, tenderstem, spinach rice, and fried/braised leek and celery. I’m feeling very stuffed!

Re: Air Fryers

Jamie’s air-fryer meals tonight looked very interesting. Bar the single meringue which took up a whole basket, for a one person size portion??

Most of the recipes were easily adaptable to a normal oven.
