Yes I wondered that, unless that it’s small plates to build your own meal, but really nice looking small plates.

I’d love to try that Wagyu bresaola

The Cricket in Totley, Sheffield. I wish we had a few more places like this in SE London.
Sourdough bread and black garlic whipped butter
Caramelised Roscoff onion tart tartin with something light and creamy and a little sour, thyme (this was really a starter)
Rhubarb and caramelised apple crumble with stem ginger custard

All delicious. First proper meal since last Wednesday and first dessert apart from a yoghurt since then too. (I had a one a day habit.) Probably 2lbs heavier now. I lost no weight on my 1 tiny meal a day diet. I shall persevere when I get home.

We have just got back from a few days in Paris, and had a couple of fabulous meals.
Here: https://www.polidor.com/en/home and here: https://www.maison-cluny.fr/

The scallops at Maison Cluny were to die for: St-Jacques rôties minute, clémentines, câpres et cresson
For some reason the pic is the third, although I posted it as the first :?:

Then I had Echine de cochon ibérique rôtie au beurre d’anchois, légumes racines au xérès:
Pork shoulder at Maison Cluny.jpg
OH had Les légumes rôtis au citron, romarin, olives et croustillant de pois chiche:
Roast veg at Maison Cluny.jpg
Scallops at Maison Cluny.jpg
We had started with Padron peppers and Sheep's cheese veined with black garlic.

We shared a bowl of sorbets, rose lychee, William pear and mandarin.

Polidor, on our first night was a really typical Parisian eaterie. We were on a shared table with 4 other diners, it was packed when we arrived at 8 ish and that was the only place to sit!
I had Duck parmentier with salad (I wasn't sure what a parmentier was - essentially a shepherd's pie,
with duck, but it was delicious)
OH had the Pork chop with red wine sauce and mashed potatoes.
Polidor mains.jpg
To start, I had the roasted St Marcellin and OH had the Dauphiné raviolis, both dishes were great (although I was a bit worried I would break my teeth on the croutons that came with mine!)

Edited to add a pic of the restaurant :)

We have just returned from a pleasant lunch at the Three Horseshoes, Norton. Between Letchworth and Stotfold. Standard pub food, but nicely presented, hot and tasty.

Lunch at the Alma, Upper Norwood:

King oyster mushrooms, cannellini bean sauce, pomme parmentier, broccoli & truffle nuts

This was my Christmas dinner main. Nice but I hope they change the menu soon. (When there are only two viable options, this is relevant.)

They don't take bookings so we took a chance.
We got an outside table with beautiful views but it was really windy.

Hot & cold seafood platter to share, couple of glasses of sauvignon blanc.
Delicious.

We lunched in Franklins, East Dulwich.
I had roast butternut squash which seemed to have some heat to it, olives (green and kalamati), goat's curd and frissee - with very nice dressing. Lovely homemade bread on the side with salt crystal butter.
It was a starter (again) really.

We had dinner here last night.

https://www.rustiquerestaurants.co.uk/

We all ate from the fixed price menu and were very impressed. It’s a bit of a York institution but I was surprised at just how busy it was on a Sunday night. York tends to empty of late afternoon on a Sunday as all the weekend break folk start their journeys home, but this place was packed with a nice buzzy atmosphere.

We went there for our pre Christmas night out with friends BB.
We were all mightily impressed with the standard of food and service. There were eight of us and all the courses came out at the same time. The Tarte Tatin was to die for.

It was also very busy on a wet Monday night. They were turning away walk-ins.

We are in Hobart now, what a cool, laid back place.
We spotted a restaurant that we fancied earlier and wandered down just before 7 tonight and it was closed, so we ate here
https://fishfrenzy.com.au/
And it was really good.

J had mixed fish and I had s&p calamari with chips and salad.

The calamari here are really nice, big thick slices and really tender.

I love calamari, it’s something I’d never make at home so always order it if I see it out

A set meal at Blue Check in Bushey. It was a quiz night. Food was very good. I had garlic mushrooms on toast followed by cajun salmon.

A busy couple of days. Just back from lunch at St James Restaurant, Bushey. The Valentine's Day lunch. I had the steak and it was the tenderest steak I have had in ages! :)

Sadly, the owner, Alfonso, is selling up after 27 years. The place is being auctioned in 2 weeks and, if the sale is successful, they will be open for a further three months, to fulfil all bookings and commitments. A pity, but all good things come to an end. :(

Met and old colleague (and her sister) for lunch here today. Haven't seen her for about 25 years and we nattered like it was last week.
It's good she brought her sister, that gave J someone to talk to

Pal chose the venue, said it reminded them both of their Jewish heritage.
I asked the question and no, she never did tell her mum about the bacon sandwiches at work.

I felt the need for green stuff and had Morning Glory.
Deli Hash for J, Toasted Reuben and Chicken Sandwich with a small Poutine for the sisters.

All really good.
