Very good news for customers. I hope it's not at the expense of farmers.

It’s not that long ago that the news was full of stories about how expensive potatoes were going to be.

After years of grinding my own beans and even roasting green beans in a wok, I decided to make life easier and buy Nescafé Gold Blend, which I like and has a good depth of flavour. The reduced price was £5 and then increased to £6, but Sainsbury's have a special offer, for customers who have their Nectar card, so I was able to get the 200g jar for only £4.

I’ve lost the price - but Lidl’s Maribel range now have 450 g jars of premium jam which they call “Conserve”. I’ve had the apricot and it really is good but this time I’ve got the Morello Cherry- wow. Definitely morello, that wonderful tart, almost smoky flavour.
Highly recommended - whatever the exact price I’m pretty sure it’s better and cheaper than Bonne Maman

I love the Strawberry Conserve from Lidl. It's the best one that I've ever tasted.
Thanks for the recommendation for the Morello Cherry Conserve. I have a fairly new Lidl just down on the main road.

Beware of reduced spreadable butter - I bought one the other day in (what I thought) was my usual size to find it had been shrunk from 500g to 400g!

Yes it is, and I hadn’t noticed  - but I did check the price per 100g on the shelf ticket, and it was cheaper than any of the other acceptable brands.

Ecover Zero washing up liquid is on special offer in Wrose. Can’t remember how much but it looked to be significantly cheaper than other brands.

I was going to say it's only £8 in Tesco, but that's a normal 700ml bottle, which would work out £11.40 for a litre...

A bit short notice this, but you may have time to take advantage.

At Morrison's, rump steak is on offer at £9.99 per kg for More card holders - full price £17.00 per kg. On Saturdays, there is a 20% off offer on steak.

Today I bought a packet - 430g which should have been £7.31. However, it only cost me £2.83! I had a saving of £3.02 because of my More card, but then £1.45 was taken off ( 20% of the full price ).
